Von Ahn Associates, Inc. is a full-service firm, with offices in Fort Myers, Naples, and Punta Gorda, serving Lee, Collier, Charlotte and Hendry Counties. Our large staff of highly competent reporters takes pride in quality court reporting and accurate transcripts. Whether it is a deposition, video conferencing, or realtime court reporting, our experienced and professional court reporters are a pleasure to work with.

We have ample conference rooms and plenty of free parking at all of our easy-to-find locations, (see below). All scheduling is done through the Fort Myers Downtown office, and notices should be mailed to the Fort Myers Downtown location. Court Reporters

Diane Goukler, CMR, RPR:

Diane Goukler started her court reporting career in Cleveland, Ohio in 1972.  She won numerous state of Ohio speed championship contests, is a Registered Professional Reporter and holds a Certificate of Merit in the field of court reporting.  Living and working in Fort Myers since 1987 and enjoying a wonderful career that provides a constant, and yes, humbling, opportunity to learn new things and work with terrific people. 

Jennifer Budreau, RPR, FPR:

Jennifer was born and raised in Southwest Florida and has lived in Fort Myers since 1974.  After graduating high school locally in 1986, she attended the Bay Area Academy of Business in Tampa, Florida to become a court reporter.  In 1988, Jennifer moved back to Fort Myers and started her career with Associated Reporters and obtained her Registered Professional Reporter certification.  After working with Associated Reporters for 14 years, Jennifer began working with Von Ahn Associates in 2004, during which time she obtained her Florida Professional Reporter certification.  Jennifer thoroughly enjoys court reporting and feels blessed to be part of such a wonderful legal community and court reporting family.  Outside of working, Jennifer has been involved for the past 25 years in raising funds for victims of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), and mostly enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Maureen A. O’Malley Sintic, CSR, FPR:

Maureen was born and raised outside of Chicago, Illinois.  She graduated from McCormick Junior College in March 1977 with an Associate’s Degree.  Maureen obtained her CSR in June of 1977 and worked in Downtown Chicago as a freelance reporter.  Maureen started her own firm with her partner in November of 1982.  Maureen and her husband of almost 40 years moved to Cape Coral with their daughter in July of 1989.  She worked as a freelance reporter in such fields as maritime law, asbestos, unions and the steel industry for 13 years.   Maureen had the contract for J&L Steel and that union for over 13 years.  Probably the medical work has been her most favorite work and traveling to different hospitals in both Chicago and Florida.  Maureen joined the Von Ahn team in 2002 and has loved this group of people.  What a great field that after 40 years you still meet new people and learn new information every day.  I have had the pleasure of working with some of the greatest people and still love my job.

Tammy Betz, RPR, FPR:

Tammy was born and raised in Long Island, New York.  After graduating Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1981, she was a legal secretary for two years before deciding to pursue a career in court reporting.  After graduating court reporting school in 1985, she worked for the New York Workers’ Compensation Board for seven years as a court reporter.  In 1992 Tammy moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she worked for the Official Court Reporter.  Then in 1997 she became a freelance reporter and joined Von Ahn Associates, where she has enjoyed working for ten years.  Tammy enjoys cooking, boating, gardening and spending time with her family and dog.

Marianne E. Sayers, CCR, RPR:

Marianne was raised in Southwest Florida, attending local schools. In 1979 she graduated from Southwest School of Business and began working as a Deputy Official Court Reporter, 20th Judicial Circuit. Having previously received the Registered Professional Reporter certificate, in 1997 Marianne became the first in Lee County to obtain the Certified Realtime Reporter designation. She joined Von Ahn Associates in 2004, and has loved being part of this fantastic group of women. In her spare time she enjoys golf, music, and spending time playing with the cutest kitten ever born, Ms. Billie Holiday.

Maggie Anderson, CCR:

Upon graduating from The Cittone Institute School of Court Reporting in South Jersey,  Maggie went to work for a firm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania reporting special education due process hearings for the State of Pennsylvania and remained there until she moved to Estero, Florida in 2006.  She then joined Von Ahn and has been with us ever since.  Maggie keeps trying to retire, but she loves that every day is different and interesting that she hasn’t been able to give it up yet.

Lisa Torbert Smith, RPR, CRI:

After graduating from Mercer University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communications, Lisa enrolled in Broward School of Business and Court Reporting.  During her years as a court reporter, Lisa became a Certified Reporting Instructor and taught locally in Fort Myers at Southwest Florida College of Business.  She also blended court reporting with her Medical Transcription business, q.day Transcription, using her steno machine to produce medical records quickly and accurately. She now enjoys working solely as a court reporter and loves the versatility court reporting has given her over the years.  Outside of court reporting, Lisa is a trained Doula, avid Crossfitter and frequent traveler to Minot, North Dakota to visit her two amazing grandchildren, Brooke and Ben! 

Tina DiCharia,  RPR, FPR:

Tina was born in Hawaii. She spent part of her childhood in Indiana and Florida. Prior to making Southwest Florida her home, she lived in Chicago where she attended school, and then started her career in court reporting in 1985.  In 1989, Tina became an owner and operator of DiCharia & Associates Court Reporting for over 20 years, and sold the business in 2008.  For the last seven years, Tina has been working for Von Ahn Associates part-time and also holds a real estate license and sells real estate on Sanibel Island, Florida.  She has extensive experience in community involvement. She has been on the Board of Directors for P.O.L.O. Club of Lee County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the YMCA, and currently on one of the United Way Allocations Team, and three-year term Board of Director for the Sanibel and Captiva Islands Realtors Association.  Tina is married to Gus Simmons, Esquire, who is a local attorney, and they met through work.  Tina has one daughter in college at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, who is her pride and joy.

Michelle R. Hordinski, RPR, RMR, CRR, CLR:

Michelle began her career in Cleveland, Ohio in 1990 after marrying her high school sweetheart and was a freelance court reporter there for the first 16 years of her career, while simultaneously enjoying rearing her two children. The family then decided to make the move to Fort Myers, Florida in 2006, where she has had the pleasure of working with some wonderful clients and on some challenging and rewarding cases. Michelle is passionate about court reporting, specifically realtime court reporting and complex medical and technical litigation topics.

Lisa M. Boyd, RPR, FPR, CMRS:

Lisa graduated with an Associate’s degree from Denver Academy of Court Reporting in 1986, where she worked for a year gaining experience in the district courts of Colorado. She moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1987 where she started with the Official Court Reporter, and local agencies after that. She’s been in the area court reporting for 31 years, during that time earning her Registered Professional Reporter certificate, Florida Professional Reporter certificate, and CMRS certificate (Certified Manager of Reporting Services). Lisa joined Von Ahn Associates in 2013. She enjoys the camaraderie with her fellow court reporters and working in a local agency that has been serving the Twentieth Judicial Circuit legal community for four decades. Lisa and her husband, Kim, a school teacher, dedicate a lot of their free time to Vineyard Community Church, their home church for 20 years, doing outreach for the Fort Myers/Cape Coral communities.

Brittney Lurie Herman, FPR:

Brittney attended court reporting school at Sage College in San Diego, California.  In 2013, Brittney relocated back home to Fort Myers, Florida and began her career as a court reporter with Von Ahn Associates.  Brittney grew up around the court reporting profession as both her mother and aunt are hard-working reporters also.  She loves the versatility the profession brings and building relationships with clients.  Brittney spends her free time traveling while showing her two prized champion Cocker Spaniels.

Cary Morrison, CSR:

Cary is from San Diego, California where she grew up and lived until 2014.  In San Diego, she received her Certified Shorthand Reporter license in 2000.  After receiving her license, she worked for Peterson Reporting Video & Litigation Services from 2000 to 2014, when she moved to Fort Myers.  She has worked for Von Ahn Associates since she relocated from San Diego. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her long-time boyfriend, Jason, and their two Golden Retrievers.

Dawn Roush, RPR:

Dawn was born and raised in Port Charlotte, Florida.  In 1990 she received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in music education (Go ‘Canes!) hoping to become a high school band director.  After being a substitute teacher for a few years, she found a brochure for Southwest Florida College of Business and fell into the career of court reporting and very unexpectedly found her passion.  After getting her degree, she worked at an agency in Punta Gorda for 19 years and then began working with Von Ahn Associates in 2015.  She loves learning something new in every deposition and enjoys the challenge of researching and learning new words.  In her free time, Dawn plays the piano and directs the choir at her church.  She likes attending musical theater, traveling, researching her family history, and spending time with her cats.

Nancy Bernardo, CCR:

Nancy was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Florida in 1972. After high school, she studied court reporting and graduated from Erwin Business School in 1984.  Over the next 17 years she worked for the  Official Court Reporter in Lee County, Florida and other freelance agencies.  Nancy then took time off to raise her two daughters, Michelle and Danielle.  In 2015 she began working for Von Ahn Associates.  She  loves spending time with her family and traveling.

Bridget Stevens, CSR:

Bridget received her Associate’s degree in court and conference reporting from Lansing Community College in 1992 and attained her Certified Stenograph Reporter certification from the State of Michigan.  After 19 years of freelance reporting in Michigan, she then relocated to Southwest Florida in 2012 where she continues to enjoy her profession as a freelance court reporter.

Becky Crane, RPR, FPR

Becky graduated from Southwest Florida College in 1994 with a degree in court reporting.  She began her court reporting career working in criminal court in Lee County and Hendry County.  After six years of working in criminal court, she transitioned to reporting mainly civil cases.  Becky has obtained her Registered Professional Reporter certification through the National Court Reporters Association, as well as her Florida Professional Reporter certification through the Florida Court Reporters Association.  She believes that meeting or exceeding the expectations of each client should always be the top priority.

Shalena Michelle Conway, CSR:

Shalena began her career in Ronkonkoma, New York, and moved to Smithfield, Rhode Island, in 2011, where she achieved her certification as a Certified Shorthand Reporter at the Superior Court of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, before discovering Paradise in Naples, Florida, where she has now gained experience taking part in civil and felony trials and depositions in the 20th Judicial Circuit.  There’s only one thing that Shalena is more passionate about more than food and good music, and that’s court reporting:  Specifically reporting criminal trials and more complex litigation cases.  In her free time she enjoys cuddling with her dog, Jack, eating/cooking, working on transcripts, and studying for her RPR.


Kristin Smith:

Kristin joined Von Ahn in 2003.  She is the firm’s billing and production manager.  She is originally from Illinois and moved to Florida in 1980.  She is a local graduate of Mariner High School and attended college at Western Illinois University.  She loves spending time with her family, friends and of course her numerous pets.  She especially enjoys bowling and is still in search of that perfect game.

Christal Luersen:

Christal was born in New Jersey and moved to Cape Coral in 1988.  She graduated in 2002 from Mariner High School and went on to Sunstate Academy where she earned her Nail Technician License.  In 2007 she decided to pursue a new career route and started as an Administrative Assistant in a local court reporting agency.  Christal joined Von Ahn Associates in 2017 as the Scheduling Coordinator with 10 years of experience in the field.  Outside of work Christal enjoys doing various crafts, fishing and spending time with her family, fur babies and friends.

Barbara Herrey:

Barbara is from Schaghticoke, New York and moved to Lee County, Florida in 1980.  She has two children and four grandchildren, two girls and two boys. She began working with the Lee County Attorney’s Office in 1987.  After a full career with the County, she retired in 2016 then began working with Von Ahn Associates in June 2016.  She loves spending time with her family and being a full-time grandmother (Nana) and gardening.
